Peter Hiddema is the CEO of Common Outlook. Prior to founding Common Outlook in 2000, Peter worked with Harvard University professors Roger Fisher and Bruce Patton and their colleagues in a previous organization.  Mr. Fisher and Mr. Patton are founders of the Harvard Negotiation Project and co-authors of “Getting to Yes”.   To this day he maintains connections to his colleagues from the community centered around the Harvard Negotiation Project.

Peter has leveraged the Harvard methodology to teach executives from Global 1000 companies the skills they need to successfully drive business performance for their organizations. In the past 2 years alone, he has advised on transactions totaling more than US$2 billion

Peter has also consulted to and advised regional bodies in the U.S., the federal government and First Nations communities in Canada, the World Health Organization in Geneva and Africa, and international non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) such as Mercy Corps.

Internationally recognized as an expert in strategic negotiation, conflict resolution and leadership development, Peter has lectured for students and corporate leaders at several universities including Queen’s University (in Canada and the UK), HEC at L’Université de Montréal, INSEAD (France) and Harvard University.

Peter began his career as an investment associate with a Canadian-based investment firm.  After completing his MBA, Peter became an institutional and corporate banker with Royal Bank of Canada in London, England and Toronto, Canada.  He speaks 4 languages, has lived in 6 countries on 4 continents, and traveled through over 50 countries.  He is curious by nature and considers himself a perpetual student in the school of life.
